Visit to The Plantsman's Preference

My first blog post!

Today I went to The Plantsman's Preference in South Lopham (nr Diss, Norfolk). I've been returning to Tim Fuller's nursery for years now - he is very knowledgeable and has a stunning range of plants, all grown on site.

Tim has a demonstration garden featuring many of the plants on offer in the adjacent sales area. Today I noticed the pink Cercis flowers and realised it must have been this time of the year that I was there last. Also in evidence were the dazzling blue flowers of Camassia, which I love.

Geranium phaem varieties were in flower, but most of the Geraniums (in which the nursery specialises) are yet to bloom

Never forget that for much of the year your perennials will be mounds of foliage. Use the colours, contrasts, textures and heights of these to your advantage to create a pleasing spectacle. Too often we look only for flowers!

I came away with lots of lovely things, both for myself and for clients.
