dry stream

The dry stream both creates a transitional area between the new and old ponds which is not atypical of traditional Japanese gardens in style, and is an important drainage vehicle - for winter wet and for overflow from the new pond.

Planting is relatively simple, offering a rest for the eye from adjacent areas, and providing seasonal colour interest from the massed plantings of blue Pulmonaria 'Benediction' in spring, bearded Iris in early summer, and Hydrangeas in autumn. Rocks are Cornish granite.
