dry stream

The dry stream is a transitional area between the new and old ponds. It is an important drainage vehicle - for winter wet and for overflow from the new pond – so perhaps the title 'dry stream' is not entirely accurate ... water can drain to the ditch at the front of the property through a buried land drain.

Planting is simple, offering a rest for the eye from adjacent areas, and providing seasonal colour interest from the massed plantings of blue Pulmonaria 'Benediction' in spring, bearded Iris in early summer, and Hydrangeas in autumn. Rocks are Cornish granite.
